GSnap Description
GSnap is an auto-tune effect. It can be used subtly to correct the pitch of a vocal, or, with more extreme settings, to create a robot-voice effect. It requires a monophonic input signal to operate.
Try GSnap with non-vocal material for interesting effects.
GSnap's effect is more useful with simple material. Complex material with rapid note changes may require several hours of dedicated MIDI programming to deal with, and may still end up sounding less than realistic.
Use the automatic correction with Forced Key to help approximate that famous vocal effect.
Automate switching between Fixed and MIDI mode for ultimate control: allow GSnap to do its thing automatically for much of the material, and then 'take over' for passages or notes that need specific work.
Try feeding GSnap some MIDI information in real-time during a vocal passage. You may find the results even more interesting than that 'other' vocal effect!
The GUI features a set of 12 knobs which control all of the plug-in's parameters. Each has its function clearly labelled above, and features a user-editable readout below. Additionally, twelve 'switches' next to the pitch data view correspond to the twelve semitones of a full octave in the Western chromatic scale, and are used to supplement the 'fixed' mode of GSnap. Two further switches allow the user to select between 'fixed' or 'midi' modes, explained below.
The controls are divided into three groups: Detection, Correction, and MIDI. The Detection section allows you to fine-tune GSnap's ability to deal with incoming audio. Correction determines the method and audible effect of the tuning algorithm. MIDI controls determine how GSnap deals with particular MIDI information.Features

Important notes about VST plugin support in Audacity:
- On Windows and Mac OS X, Audacity is a 32-bit application so won’t see 64-bit versions of VST plug-ins, even on 64-bit operating systems.
- On GNU/Linux, 32-bit systems will have 32-bit versions of Audacity which won’t see 64-bit VST plug-ins. 64-bit systems will have 64-bit versions of Audacity which will see 64-bit VST plug-ins but won’t see 32-bit plug-ins.

Steps:
- Download and install the latest version of Audacity (note where you save the files), if you haven’t already. Also download the GSnap.zip file (Which version do I download? Look below) from the links specified above.
- Once you’ve download the GSnap.zip file, extract it to a location (How do I extract files? Look below). Once extracted, open the new extracted folder and copy the .dll file. Alternatively, you can double-click to open the downloaded file (How do I open a .zip file without Winzip?) and copy the GSnap.dll file you find.
- Now head to the folder you saved the Audacity files during the installation. If you do not remember it, try checking C:Program Files (x86)Audacity (for Windows-64 bit users) or C:Program FilesAudacity (for Windows-32 bit users). On Mac OS X, it is usually in the “/Applications” folder. On Linux, you must add a “plug-ins” folder to /usr/bin/ (if you installed a packaged version of Audacity) or to /usr/local/bin (if you installed a self-compiled version of Audacity). If you still do not find it, go to the main folder (which contains all your drives) and type ‘Audacity’ into the search box (on the top-right of the screen).
- 4. Double-click on the ‘Plug-Ins’ folder (located below the ‘Languages’ and ‘Nyquist’ folders). If you do not have a folder like that, you might need to re-install the software.
- Once you enter the ‘Plug-Ins’ folder, paste the GSnap.dll file you had copied in Step 2. Now close the window.
- Open ‘Audacity’ (the application). Go to Effects and scroll using the downward arrow symbol (∇). If you find GSnap, you’re done! If you don’t, head on to Step 7.

To unzip the entire folder, right-click (or press and hold) it, select Extract All, then follow the instructions. To unzip a single file or folder, double-click the zipped folder to open it. Then, drag or copy the item from the zipped folder to a new location.
On Mac OS,
Double-click on the zipped folder icon.
Mac OS Extractor will unzip the file in just a moment or 2. When it is done, you will see the unzipped folder icon bearing the same of the folder that was zipped.
